The Planetarium

Today we took a visit to the Planetarium.  The second grade curriculum involves talking about eclipses, constellations and "faces" or phases in the moon.  Most students chose to write about the eclipse, but 1 student remembered the moon witch that some cultures see in the moon.  Here are just a few of the entries from our notebooks.

The Bill Project

This picture is from a couple of weeks ago when we worked with Bill Morgner again from Midcoast Energy.  The challenge was to see high high we could blow water up through a tube.  Bill and Marsha taped the tubes to a yard stick and then filled the tubes partway with water.  We had to level the water at the desk and then each student took turns blowing the water while the other student took measurements.  This activity involved watching air pressure at work and math.  One student also said that it was very important to work with your partner otherwise you might get WET!  Thank you to Bill for all of his time with us.  We are lucky to get one more session with him.
